Let Us Cross Over The River

By order of the commanding general, I am here to remedy the lack of Civil War blogs on Tumblr. If you have any interest in the Civil War (vaguely interested/mildy/obsessed/fanatical), then this can be your headquarters. If you have any inquiries or questions, I'll be here. Both Yankees and Rebs accepted of course! Maj. Gen. KathyRose (well, okay, I'm a 19 year old English girl but no one has to know that!) Personal blog if anybody's interested: http://amildlookingsky.tumblr.com/

The Battle of Antietam, or the Battle of Sharpsburg, is fought in Maryland. Maj. Gen. George McClellan’s Union forces battled Gen. Robert E Lee’s Confederates, with vicious assaults through Miller’s Cornfield, the West Woods and the Sunken Road. An attack across the bridge across Antietam Creek almost caused the collapse of the Southern right yet reinforcements deflected the Federals. It would turn out to be the single bloodiest day in American history, ending with a draw but a strategic Union victory with a Confederate retreat. (x) (x) (x)
